"Identity" December 20, 2016 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 36" x 12"
I began this painting right after the election. It is about the polarization of the country. Our silos of identity. I used blue and red because they are easily identifiable as identities, but it could be anything. The ornate cup with the larger marbles, represents a loose collection of people with power who use identity, but aren't a part of it. Off in the corner is a dark, menacing power that no one is paying attention to. There are scattered, disenfranchised, voiceless people outside the cups.
